Deep acne scars are more than unsightly. It can cause patients to feel embarrassed about their appearance when they are hard to disguise. Thanks to continued improvements and advances in the field of dermatology, patients in and around the Burlington, Ontario, area looking for a deep acne scar treatment now have treatment options to consider. This includes treatments for active acne and acne scars. drs skincare can help with both conditions to improve your skin’s health and appearance–while boosting your self-confidence and self-esteem!
Acne comes in many different types and severities, so our team at drs skincare starts with a consultation appointment and an initial evaluation. Some patients are able to maintain their acne condition with over-the-counter face washes and topical products, but we often see individuals in our office who are struggling to achieve results.
With the care of a skilled and experienced dermatologist, many of our patients find relief from acne. We often recommend laser treatment options such as the Aviclear acne treatment, which can be used on all varieties of acne. This FDA-cleared device uses laser energy that targets the oil glands in the skin that are responsible for causing most types of acne. Patients will need to have several treatment sessions monthly to start seeing results. It is an affordable treatment that requires minimal downtime and allows patients to take charge of their acne!
Once we have worked with you to treat the active acne, we can work with you in treating deep acne scars. We often recommend a special laser treatment for scars that provides skin resurfacing and rejuvenation. With laser treatments, we can stimulate the skin’s natural Collagen production, which can tighten and firm the skin, closing large pores and reducing the appearance of deep acne scars.
Alternatively, patients with very deep acne scars, such as ice-pick scars, may benefit from the use of dermal fillers. Dermal fillers add volume to the skin, so when injected into ice pick scars, it can raise these divots to the skin’s surface to lessen their appearance. Dermal fillers are not a permanent way to address acne scars but may be combined with laser treatments for scars in our office.
